Meet the team at HinS
Humanism in Scotland was formed by Ron McLaren and his son, Stephen, in 2014. Ron had previously been involved with several Humanist groups since the turn of the millennium, including Scotland's largest group Humanist Society Scotland. As the popularity of Humanist ceremonies increased, Ron found he had less time to be an active humanist. He wanted to spend more time campaigning for human rights and being an activist for equality, health, the environment and social improvement. So HinS was formed and his son, Stephen, became a Celebrant and Marriage Officer. Stephen continued to promote Humanism through his ceremony activity whilst Ron developed this website as a hub for learning, support, activism and ceremonies and to further the reach of humanism in Scotland.
Nine years on, Stephen proudly works alongside an outstanding group of Celebrants. Our members are legally authorised to conduct wedding ceremonies anywhere in Scotland and we also assist families during their time of need by planning and conducting funeral ceremonies and celebrations of life. We are active listeners and we are here to help if you ever wish to share your lives with us. We are people who care and if we can't help you with your enquiry, we can find someone who can. Our wide range of work experiences provides us with many contacts in the care professions and beyond. So ask us a question and we will try to help. You can write directly to Stephen or our secretary, Linda and we will forward your enquiry to the relevant person. stephen@humanism-scot.org secretary@humanism-scot.org Call Stephen: 07597377474 For more information about our Celebrants, you can find their individual profiles and contact details here: and you can find out about our unique approach and ceremony fees here:
