Imperialism is Plagiarism by Justin Podur
Justin Podur writes a fabulous article about the many origins of human knowledge. It is almost laughable how 'The West' has claimed to be the font of all knowledge when in fact, the Europeans plagued the earth like a murder of marauding crows, stealing everything they could in their brutal conquest around the globe. Locusts of knowledge and brazen enough to act as though every brilliant idea was created by them, Mr Podur enlightens us with a glance at just some of the things the Imperialist West has stolen over the last 3,000 years. Look away fans of Greek philosophy and Renaissance Italy, it was all nicked!
Note: The West did make some things. I'm not trying to bash every period of white history. Human beings are indeed a unique and incredible species, however, a thief is a thief and deserves to be called out. Much more than this, credit must go to the amazing civilizations around the world that did indeed create so many of the things we rely on and are still influenced by in the 21st Century - Humanism being one of them. That was pick-pocketed by the Greeks and most likely originated from societies that existed well before the Egyptians. It's all good. As Justin says, "We have to make the most (of the knowledge we have) and maybe it doesn’t matter all that much where it came from, but that everybody gets it and what we can do with it."
I hope you enjoy Justin's article:
