THE BLACK HOLE

"Evil (ignorance) is like a shadow. It has no real substance of its own, it is simply a lack of light. You cannot cause a shadow to disappear by trying to fight it, stamp on it, by railing against it, or any other form of emotional or physical resistance. In order to cause a shadow to disappear, you must shine light on it."

The dark has truly suffocated our souls. If you can look into the black hole before us and believe humanity’s course is correct, I fear you are looking at a reflection of yourself and what they have made you become. You are not really seeing the horror unfolding in Gaza and the West Bank for what it really is. I ask you to look again. Look enough times so that you scream for it to stop.

How did it come to this barbaric slaughter of men, women and children, cheered on by others and their governments alike? How could anyone walk into a meeting of the United Nations Security Council and not vote for a ceasefire? The human that said NO leaves the room, orders a meal, watches TV, takes a few phone calls, scrolls on their phone for a while then sleeps easily in their bed. How?

Our only hope is for the Global South to put enough pressure on the US and European leaders.

Western support for Israel must stop and a full-scale, rapid response must stem the ongoing humanitarian disaster. At the time of writing, this is the day when fuel supplies run out in Gaza. Hospitals will fail. There is no more water. The bombing continues. The soldiers are waiting to go in and cut people down. Who is cheering for this??

Under international law, the crime of genocide implicates not only those carrying out the crime, but also those complicit in it, including by “aiding and abetting.”

The International Centre of Justice for Palestinians (ICJP) intends to charge Western leaders with complicity in the crimes of genocide. Lawyers at the Center for Constitutional Rights (CCR) have warned US leaders of their complicity in aiding and abetting the barbaric siege by Israel.

We must put pressure on anyone and anything we can. MPs; companies; fly the flag; join the march; donate to Oxfamsign a petition. Now is not the time to look away. That is exactly what they want you to do. Looking away has brought us here. We must show our support for humanity and peace. Don’t fall into the trap of taking sides when you don’t know the story. These darkest times did not begin on October 7th. The lights have been out on the people of Gaza and the West Bank for over 75 years. We have ignored them so far. We cannot ignore them anymore. Our lack of action (and reaction) pours fuel on the furnace of rage that will scorch everything before it. I fear this grotesque monster will soon become too big for us all.

This is the worst crisis I have ever witnessed in my 55 years. I have seen the horror and suffering of war, here, there and everywhere, yet this is the most catastrophic because so many people are cheering for more. So many governments are supporting the genocide.

How did humanity become so warped in its senses? How can anyone see the bombing of Gaza and the starvation of more than two million people as anything other than medieval horror? This is the 21st Century. It will be remembered for all the wrong reasons unless we find a way to shine the light.

All we seem to have achieved since 2001 is war on an industrial scale. The lust for other people’s blood is more rampant than ever and it’s all because of a lie.

Please read and learn as much as you can from those who seek a humanitarian, peaceful resolution.

See through the dark, look at the horror and be part of the light we need.
