'THE MESSAGE' by TA-NEHISI COATES
The Message A powerful new book by renowned American author Ta-Nehisi Coates Narrative unlocks the vaults of darkness. Months, years, decades and centuries of narrative have created everything we see. If you agree that what we see is wrong - and genocide is what we are seeing - then we must find the courage to dismantle the narratives that have brought us here. We cannot continue to follow the path that takes us to genocide. For those that are suffering these horrors today, we must act - but there is also a human consequence, on a global scale, if we do nothing. If such crimes against humanity are excused and forgiven, all bets are off. There are no rules and anyone with power can do anything they like. They can do anything they like because they know they will get away with it. Jeez, if israel can get away with genocide, there's no stopping all other forms of mistreatment, subjugation, separation, racism, exploitation, murder, torture and oppression. The bar for the horror we accept is now so low, that anything goes and we won't blink an eye until something happens to us. Until an unmarked van takes us away for carrying a slightly suspicious bag. Wait, that happens now. Maybe it's time to unpack this narrative... The mythical world order has brought humanity to the precipice of World War Three. The narrative that has brought us here must be taken apart, month by month, year by year, decade by decade, century by century, lie by lie. Stephen McLaren
From the author's website: "Coates travels to Palestine, where he sees with devastating clarity how easily we are misled by nationalist narratives, and the tragedy that lies in the clash between the stories we tell and the reality of life on the ground. (25 min interview, amazing!)
